Department of Public Administration and Crisis Management provides teaching of the profile subjects in the study programme of Security and Legal Services in Public Administration. The department members specialise in three key areas of crisis management: crisis management theory, civil protection and fire safety. They take an active part in international scientific projects as well as national scientific and research tasks. The pedagogical work of the department is supplemented by a number of attractive supporting educational activities carried out in cooperation with partner institutions. The most interesting include a multi-day simulation of the crisis staff and rescue forces work at simulation trainers at the Simulation Centre of the Armed Forces Academy in Liptovský Mikuláš, training at the Mountain Rescue Service Centre in the Low Tatras, an exercise at the Rescue Brigade of the Fire and Rescue Corps in Malacky, live simulations of responses at the Fire and Rescue Corps Training Centre in Lešť, but also our own competition the Iron Firefighter. The students have a possibility to obtain a certificate of professional competence in civil protection in cooperation with the Control Chemical Laboratory in Jasov. The department in cooperation with the National Security Authority provides certificates in the area of security and protection of classified information. In addition to that, the students specialising in fire protection can obtain a certificate of professional competence in fire safety. Thanks to the development of the cooperation with the Presidium of the Fire and Rescue Corps, with the Section of Crisis Management of the Ministry of Interior of the SR and with other units and departments of the Ministry of Interior, the students gain a lot of practical information for their professional specialisation and successful accomplishment of the study at the Academy of the Police Force in Bratislava.
