Research at the Public Law Department

The scientific work of the Public Law Departmenet is based on overall concept of direction of the Academy of the Police Force in Bratislava, which reflects the current issues of the police practice, basiclly in the field of fundamental human rights and freedoms. The main form of scientific activities are active participation on research tasks and project of department members, active participation on scientific conferences and publications of outcomes of research tasks.

The Public Law Department covers one undergoing research task. Research task No. 204 - Protection of Human Rights in Activities of the Police Force (2014 – 2017). The individual sub-tasks of the  research project are focused on the status and role of the Police Force in the system of state authorities of the Slovak republic in the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms. The other sub-tasks are focused on the protection of rights of Roma minority and foreign nationals.

As a part of Research task No. 204, the Public Law Department organized several scientific conferences:            

The members of the Department form an active part in the project granted by the Slovak Research and Development Agency under number APVV-17-0217 registered under the title Service Interventions of Members of the Police Force and Application of the Principle of Proportionality from a Criminal and Administrative Point of View. The principal investigator is Col. Assoc. Prof. Klaudia Marczyová, J.D., Ph.D. and project team members are Capt. Assoc. Prof. Jozef Medelský, M.A., J.D., Ph.D. and Marián Piváček, M.A., Ph.D.
